Dr. Lily Masinde graduated from Tianjin University of Science and Technology on the 11 of October 2013 having attained a doctorate degree in Food Biotechnology under the guidance of Professor Wang Shuo and his team at the Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Safety. Lily was the first PhD student from Africa.
Lily has been a lecturer at Kenya Utalii College which also runs courses in conjunction with the University of Nairobi in Kenya from 2003 to the present time. Lily is in-charge of food safety and nutrition courses where she involves the students in research on Food Biotechnology, Food Safety Analysis and Human Nutrition. Lily also supervises masters and PhD students from other Universities in Kenya.
From 2014, Lily is a member of WHO-TDR researchers dealing with scientific writing and public communication of science. This project helps researchers in developing countries improve their scientific communication to secure funding for health projects. This Project is funded by WHO and Tropical Diseases Research (TDR) in conjunction with the University of Nairobi.
